Networking is the easiest and most cost effective method of sharing printers, scanners, Internet connections and files, etc, between two or more computers.

Especially when connecting your network to the internet via Broadband with it's permanent connection and high data transfer speeds that make any network open to continuous attack at much higher speeds than every before. Without adequate protection it is no longer a case of IF or you might get a virus but a case of WHEN. Because nothing in this electronic world is more certain YOU WILL CATCH A VIRUS! . This is why internet security software is no longer adequate on its own but where broadband is concerned, a physical Firewall is a must.
I also highly recommend everybody takes a look at Data Backup . This is something else that can very easily be done over a network, making back up plans much more efficient and automated.
